Mission Mountain Fall Sunset

It was the elk rut on the National Bison Range in north west Montana.  I was taking photos of the elk late in the day when a beautiful sunset started to take place.  It was not colorful but had great lighting.  The sun was intensely shining between clouds to the west and the wind was shaping and softening the clouds above the peaks.  A spike bull elk is in the bottom left corner of the photo and helps to give scale to these majestic mountains.     C Thomas Hoff.
